In 1976, Dr. Louis Parish discovered that a citrus extract from the seeds and pulp of grapefruit is a potent antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral, and antiprotozoan (antiparasitical) nutrient remedy. Citrus extract has been tested and found effective in naturally inhibiting such bacterial pathogens as Staphyloccous, Streptococcus, Salmonella, Cholera, E. coli; pathogens which cause travelers diarrhea; yeast pathogens such as Candida albicans, and other parasitical infections. Citrus extract has been tested and proven effective by several laboratories and universities such as Pasteur Institute in Paris, University of Georgia, Southern Research Institute, Brigham Young University and others. As well, it is non-toxic, environmentally safe and quickly biodegradable. The only side effect I have ever observed with grapefruit extract is an outbreak of canker sores in a young girl who took Citricidal. This may be an allergy to citrus and it may have been preventable by combining the remedy with food enzymes.

The following clinical reports came from The Third Opinion newsletter, Volumes 1 and 3, from Petaluma, CA.

Effective parasite remedy:

Dr. Louis Parish, M.D., an FDA investigator, found that this citrus extract was "as effective as any other amebicide now available, perhaps more effective....”

Nearly 200 patients with Entamoeba histolytical and Giardia lambia were treated over a two-month period. Says Dr. Parish, "it (citrus extract) gives symptomatic relief more than any other treatment."

Candidiasis:

Citrus extract is a very effective remedy for systemic Candidiasis. The liquid extract is also excellent for Candida albicans vaginitis. In a study at the Universidad Autonoma de Neuvo Leon, the liquid extract was tested on 20 patients with laboratory diagnosed chronic Cervix Vaginal Candida Albicans. The 20 women aged 22-44 all douched using citrus extract every 12 hours for three consecutive days 5-10 drops of Citricidal liquid per 8 ounces of water). They were all sexually active and all used various contraceptive methods. Of the 20 cases, 15 were cured in one treatment. Four patients required two treatments and one required three treatments before negative lab tests were found.

Tourista (traveler’s diarrhea):

As little as 3-5 drops of liquid citrus extract daily in a glass of water is a good preventative. Also, this remedy can be used as a curative. Dr. C.W. Lynn, M.D., of Orlando Florida reported that a patient suffered severe diarrhea while traveling in South America. Dr. Lynn prescribed two drops of the liquid extract in a glass of water at noon and again at bedtime. The following morning, the patient ate breakfast as usual with no further problem. In a test case, one half of a group of 38 travelers aged 10 to 68 took three drops of liquid citrus extract in water daily while the other half did not. There was not one case of tourista among the citrus extract group, while the non-protected half got diarrhea.

Antiviral agent:

Citrus extract is now being tested as an antiviral agent and so far, the results have been very promising. Let me summarize them. Citrus extract inactivated herpes simplex virus type a (HSV-1), influenza A2, the measles virus, and four animal viruses including Foot and Mouth Disease, African swine fever, Swine Vesicular Disease and Avian influenza. Clinical studies have also indicated its effectiveness in relieving the common cold and flu virus.

Effective germicidal:

For gingivitis, mouth rinse, skin cleanser, etc. Here are some examples:

Citrus extract is very effective in the treatment of gingivitis and other bacteria, such as those that form plaque, gum infections or fungi related gum or mouth disorders. Use 5 drops of the liquid extract in five ounces of water as a mouth rinse. Citricidal liquid can be used effectively in a water pik unit, just by adding 3-5 drops to the reservoir.

Athlete’s foot:

A solution of 3 drops of liquid citrus extract in a tablespoon of water will kill this fungus (trichophyton interdigitate), sometimes in only one application.

Availability of Citrus Extract

Citrus extract is available in capsule, tablet and liquid form and as a dental gel, nasal spray, ear drops and skin cleanser.

Caution: Citricidal liquid extract is very potent and MUST be diluted before using. Otherwise, it can burn the skin, much like using concentrated hydrogen peroxide solutions instead of the 3% dilution.
